May 27, 2010 - Senior hammer thrower Anna Leutheuser has competed in the sport of track throughout her athletic career in the community of Hillsdale. Starting at Hillsdale Academy as a ninth grader in the fall of 2002, she has worn blue and white and represented the Academy, and now, Hillsdale College with pride and excellence. Thursday afternoon, she placed herself in the elite of all athletes who have ever competed for Hillsdale College.

Having already graduated three weeks ago, Leutheuser earned her first career All-American distinction when she finished sixth in the nation in the hammer throw event. Leutheuser is already the school record holder in the event, but with her performance Thursday, she joins her mother, Laura Willson Leutheuser as the first mother-daughter track All-Americans in school history.

Leutheuser is the 15th different athlete to gain All-American status in the 2009-10 school year for Hillsdale College.

Leutheuser was far from alone among Hillsdale athletes who became All-Americans last weekend at the national meet, being held at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC.

Saturday, senior Jazmin Williams capped her career with back-to-back All-American runs in the 400 meter hurdles. Williams placed seventh in the event on May 29, with a time of 1:00.12. It was the second year in a row she has received All-American status in the same event.

Freshman Kayla Caldwell capped an unbelievable first season by earning her third All-American distinction. She finished in seventh place in the pole vault event, clearing 12 feet, 2 3/4 inches. She was a two-time All-American during the indoor track season, and with this performance, clearly established herself as one of Division II's premier pole vaulters.

Senior hammer throwers Jason Stomps and Aaron Falk were both All-Americans in the weight throw during indoor season. Thursday afternoon, they duplicated that effort in the outdoor version of that event, the hammer throw. Stomps placed second, while Falk took fourth for the Chargers. It was the final career meet for these two hammer throwers, who were the best teammates in the event in the nation throughout this school year.

Senior Jared Krout earned an amazing ninth career All-American honor Thursday as well, finishing in third place in the long jump with a school-record leap of 25 feet, 2 3/4 inches. Krout has been a dominant performer in sprint events as well as the long jump throughout his career, and capped off his career in fine fashion. He will go down as one of the most-decorated athletes in the star-studded history of Hillsdale College track and field.

Senior Jazmin Williams, an All-American in 2009, gave herself a chance at repeating that achievement this year, when she ran the 400 hurdles in 1:00.03 in Thursday's prelim race. She was one of the top eight finishers in the event, and will compete in Saturday's finals.
