Charger sophomore Lauren Grover earns first career GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honor
September 20, 2010 - Playing in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio for the first time in her career, Hillsdale College sophomore had one of the best matches of her career. As a result, she was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
It is the first-ever such achievement in Grover's career with the Chargers. In two matches on the road last week, at Tiffin and Ohio Dominican, Grover totaled 15 kills against just one hitting

error, and hit a combined .667 in the two matches. Against the Panthers, she hit .750, generating nine kills versus no errors on 12 attempts.
She also blocked effectively, helping the number-one blocking team in the nation. She had seven total blocks in the two matches. Grover is from Columbus, Ohio, making her match at Ohio Dominican even more significant. Grover attended Olentangy High School in Columbus.
For the season, Grover ranks fourth in the GLIAC in blocks per set (1.21), and would lead the GLIAC in hitting percentage, but she doesn't have enough total attempts to qualify. She is hitting a scorching .424 in nine matches this season.
This is the second week in a row a Hillsdale player has earned the South Division Player of the Week honor. Last week, Ashlee Crowder won the award.
This weekend, the Chargers (8-1 overall, 5-0 GLIAC) host a three-day weekend against North Division rivals Ferris State (Friday), Grand Valley State (Saturday) and Saginaw Valley State (Sunday).
