October 11, 2010 - And then there were four.

Four different players on the current Hillsdale College volleyball roster have earned GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors during their careers. Junior setter Apryl Schmucker is the latest to join this group, having been named this week's recipient news story image Monday afternoon. The award was announced by the conference office.

Schmucker had a strong weekend of matches, as the No. 13-ranked Chargers went on the road and defeated GLIAC North Division foes Northwood and Lake Superior State by identical 3-1 scores. In Friday's win over the Timberwolves, Schmucker matched a season-high with 46 assists, while picking up five kills and six digs. Her passing and ball distribution helped the team hit a season-high .434 for the match, which was the second-highest single-match hitting percentage achieved by any GLIAC team in a match this season.

In Saturday's win at Lake Superior State, Schmucker had 33 assists in three sets of action, adding six kills and eight digs to her impressive stat line. She also had three service aces in both matches over the weekend, and is second in the GLIAC in that category this season.

Ashlee Crowder, Clara Leutheuser and Lauren Grover are the other players on Hillsdale's team that have won the weekly player of the week award from the conference in the past.

Schmucker was named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team last year, and is one of the best setters in the conference. This season, she's helped the Chargers to a 15-1 record, a 14-match winning streak and first place in the GLIAC South Division. She hails from Inman, Kansas and played at Little River High School.
