Men's basketball team loses exhibition opener at University of Detroit-Mercy, 82-60
October 30, 2010 - The 2010-11 Hillsdale College men's basketball team took the court in uniform for the first time on Saturday, and faced a team that could contend for an NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament spot.

The Chargers lost to the University of Detroit-Mercy, 82-60 at Calihan Hall. This game will not count in the season results or statistics for the Chargers.

Hillsdale shot just 30 percent from the field, and 24 percent from 3-point territory. One player who was on target was junior forward Brad Guinane, who drained six 3-point baskets, and led all players with 27 points in the game.

Junior guard Tyler Gerber had three steals, and sophomore center Nick Washburn was 5-for-11 from the floor and had 11 points.

Hillsdale officially opens the 2010-11 season on Friday, Nov. 12, at home against Ohio State-Newark at 7:30 p.m.
