November 15, 2010 - It's only the first day of deer hunting season, and already the Hillsdale College men's basketball team is two months ahead of last season's win pace.

The Chargers improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 72-53 win over the University of Illinois-Springfield Monday night on the road. Hillsdale will head to Tennessee this weekend for a pair of non-conference games on the road.

In 2009-10, the Chargers didn't win their second game of the season until the middle of January. But this season, Hillsdale is an impressive 2-0, outscoring its opponents by an average of 33 points per game.

In Monday's win, the team's three frontcourt starters each hit double digits in scoring. Sophomore center Nick Washburn had 16 points and eight rebounds on 6-for-11 shooting from the field. Junior Brad Guinane led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while handing out four assists. Junior Brent Eaton, making his season debut, popped in 15.

Junior guard Tyler Gerber logged 35 minutes on the court and had five assists and four steals.
