November 16, 2010 - On the road, playing one of the top 20 NAIA teams in the nation proved to be a good early-season test for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team. A test it successfully passed.
The Chargers defeated Walsh 85-81 in overtime Tuesday night in Ohio. Hillsdale is now 3-0 on the season and is off until Thanksgiving Weekend, when it participates in the AU Thanksgiving Classic in Ashland, Ohio.
Walsh led throughout most of the second half, until freshman Marissa DeMott delivered a shot many players wait an entire career for. DeMott (pictured)

nailed a 25-foot 3-point basket with two seconds left in regulation to tie the game, sending it into overtime. The Chargers used the momentum to their advantage
in the extra session.
Five points in overtime by sophomore guard Lea Jones proved to be key in the team's win. Jones hit a 3-point basket to increase Hillsdale's lead from one to four with 2:05 left in the extra session. Walsh would rally to tie the game, but Jones swished a pair of free throws after getting fouled, putting the team ahead for good. The five overtime points represented half of Jones' 10 point total for the game.
All five Hillsdale College starters scored in double figures, led by a season-high 15 from junior forward Katie Bildner. Senior Laura Barczak and junior Chelsea Harrison each scored 14, while sophomore Emily Anderson (pictured)

had her best all-around game of the young season, with 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Harrison played all 45 minutes in the game.
Barczak, Bildner and Elizabeth Brannick each had a team-high five rebounds for Hillsdale, with Brannick's coming in just 13 minutes off the bench. Sophomore guard Kelsey Raczak made all three of her field goal attempts, including a jump shot in the first minute of overtime. The Chargers never trailed after that.
