December 14, 2010 - For the second week in a row, a member of the Hillsdale College men's basketball team has been named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.

Junior forward Brent Eaton netted the most recent honor, announced by the conference office early Tuesday evening. news story image

Eaton averaged 23 points per game in two Chargers' wins last week, helping Hillsdale to a 10-0 start, and, as released Tuesday afternoon, a No. 10 ranking in the nation.

In the Dec. 7 home win over Ferris State, Eaton scored a career-high 31 points, nailing five 3-point baskets to help Hillsdale come back from an 18-point second-half deficit to beat the Bulldogs 83-76. He followed up that game with a 15-point, 7-rebound performance in Saturday's 74-69 victory at Lake Superior State. His seven rebounds in that game were a career-high.

Teammate Tyler Gerber won the conference's weekly award last week. Eaton won the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honor once last season, after scoring a then-career best 27 points in a road win over Northern Michigan.

Eaton and the Chargers will shoot for their 11th win in a row Sunday afternoon at Ashland University, in Hillsdale's final game before the holidays. Tip-off is at 1 p.m.
