February 10, 2011 - The Hillsdale College women's basketball team set a season-high for rebounds for the second time in the past seven days Thursday night, on its way to a 71-59 victory over Ohio Dominican University.

The Chargers improved to 14-7 overall and 8-7 in the GLIAC news story image with the win, and remain in third place in the South Division. Hillsdale will be back at home Saturday, hosting Tiffin University starting at 3 p.m.

The Chargers enjoyed a 49-22 edge on the boards in the win over the Panthers, also their biggest rebounding margin of the season. Hillsdale grabbed 18 offensive boards, and along with a 24-for-28 performance from the free throw line, found the formula for a win.

Leading the rebounding charge for Hillsdale was senior Laura Barczak (pictured), who finished the game with 12 points, two blocked shots and a career-high 15 rebounds. Five of those boards came on the offensive end. Barczak's quickness and strength were big keys to her success in the painted area in this game.

The Panthers hung tight with the Chargers through the game's first 26 minutes. Neither team established a lead of greater than six points, which turned out to be the halftime edge Hillsdale had, 29-23.

ODU came back with a quick strike in the second half, going on a 12-2 run to take a 35-33 lead with 15:03 left in the game. That's when the Charger defense dug in, making it difficult for the Panthers to generate much consistent offense over the next six minutes, during which Hillsdale went on an 18-5 run to open up the lead to 11, 51-40. The Panthers would get no closer the rest of the way.

Barczak's double-double, her fourth since Jan. 13, was just part of the strong team effort put forth by the team. Junior guard Chelsea Harrison led all scorers with 18 points, and shot 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Sophomore Lea Jones had 14 points and five rebounds, while sophomore guard Kelsey Raczak contributed eight in 16 minutes off the bench, draining a pair of 3-point shots. Freshman Angela Bisaro also had a good game off the bench, grabbing five rebounds in seven minutes.
