February 10, 2011 - Very few games ever start the way Thursday night's men's basketball game between Hillsdale College and Ohio Dominican University. The game ended with a 3-point shot at the buzzer by the visiting Panthers. But inbetween, the Chargers executed their game plan very efficiently, earning their 18th win of the season.
Hillsdale completed the season sweep over ODU with an 82-66 victory Thursday night at Jesse Philips Arena. The 20th-ranked Chargers are now 18-3 on the season and 12-3 in the GLIAC,

and will host Tiffin University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Hillsdale shot 54 percent from the floor, while having an eight-rebound advantage on the boards and forcing four more turnovers than it committed in a good all-around effort.
Symbolizing that solid all-around play was junior forward Brent Eaton (pictured), who showed once again why he's one of the GLIAC's most efficient and well-rounded offensive players. He led all scorers with 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field. In his first season with the Chargers in 2009-10, he gained a well-earned reputation as one of the most lethal 3-point shooters in the conference. This year, he has expanded his offensive game to impressive proportions.
Seven of his nine field goals came in two-point land, and he also had four rebounds, five steals and four assists to lead Hillsdale's attack.
Eaton also made a free throw before tip-off. In a rare situation, Hillsdale was awarded two technical free throw shots because Ohio Dominican did not declare its starting lineup until less than 10 minutes were left on the pregame clock. That is known as an administrative technical foul, and the opposing team is awarded two shots before the game officially begins. So Eaton had an even earlier start to his night than usual.
Hillsdale never trailed in the game and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the game's final 10 minutes. Ohio Dominican's Jimmy Russell threw in a 3-point shot from just inside half-court as time expired, putting a fitting bow on this most unusual package of a game.
Junior Brad Guinane continued his impressive season with 17 points and seven rebounds, going 7-for-12 from the field. Tyler Gerber tossed in 12 points and had six assists and four rebounds in 35 minutes, and Tim Dezelski added nine points and six rebounds off the bench. Sophomore Anthony Manno drained all three of his shots from the field, and had seven points for the Chargers.
