Guinane's late-game heroics lead to GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honors
February 14, 2011 - Hillsdale College junior Brad Guinane became the third different member of his class to be named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week this week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Guinane hit two free throws with 2.1 seconds left to give Hillsdale College a thrilling 68-67 win over Tiffin University Saturday afternoon. The game-winning shots capped a 17-point, 6-rebound performance for Guinane, as the Chargers extended their current winning streak to four games.
Guinane has been a steady force for the 20th-ranked Chargers all season, leading the team in rebounding and ranking second in points per game. In last week's home wins over Ohio Dominican and Tiffin, Guinane averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as Hillsdale improved to 19-3 on the season.
Earlier this season, fellow juniors Brent Eaton and Tyler Gerber were honored as GLIAC South Division Players of the Week. They earned their honors on back-to-back weeks in December.
Hillsdale will play its final regular season home game this Saturday, hosting Saginaw Valley State University.
