Putt finishes 5th in the mile run at NCAA championships, earns All-American status

March 11, 2011 - Hillsdale College has a brand-new All-American athlete.
Amanda Putt took fifth overall in the finals of the mile run at the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships Saturday in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Putt finished in the sub-five minute range, clocking in at 4:59.93 in the finals.
Putt becomes the ninth Charger athlete to earn at least honorable mention All-American status during the 2010-11 school year.
Friday, Putt qualified for the finals in the mile with a prelim time of 5:02.26. That was good for second in her heat and fifth overall. She ended up maintaining her pre-meet seed with her performance Saturday.
Catherine Nass, also competing in her first national meet, finished 12th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 17.00 meters. Nass did improve upon her seeding entering the meet, having come in at 13th.
