Hillsdale College men's basketball team signs Jason Pretzer to national letter of intent
6-10 center from Jenison to join Chargers in 2011-12
April 14, 2011 - Hillsdale College men’s basketball coach John Tharp is pleased to announce the signing of Jason Pretzer to a national letter of intent for the 2011-12 season.

Pretzer is a 6-foot-10, 245-pound center who hails from Jenison, Michigan. He will be the second player on the Charger roster from Jenison, joining forward Tony Nelson.

Pretzer was a four-year starter for the Wildcats, and as a senior in 2010-11, averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and nearly three assists per game. He started every game for Jenison, and played nearly 30 minutes per game.

He racked up numerous honors during his prep career, which included being recognized as team MVP in 2010-11. He was named team captain in his senior season, and was the team’s most improved player in 2009-10. He was named to the OK Red All-Conference Team as a senior, and earned honorable mention Class A All-State accolades. He was also named Jenison’s Athlete of the Month three times during three different seasons in his career.

Pretzer played for the Grand Rapids Storm AAU team, and helped that team to four championships during his three years on the team.

Outside of basketball, Pretzer played football for three seasons, and was named to the honor roll in all four years of his high school academic career. He was born May 5, 1993, and his parents are Scott and Della.

Pretzer joins a team coming off one of its best seasons in school history. The Chargers went 20-6 in 2010-11, and were ranked as high as fourth in the nation, their highest-ever climb in the Division II Top 25 poll. Four starters from that team will return for the 2011-12 season.
