August 15, 2011 - After two straight NCAA playoff appearances, the Hillsdale College football team is considered to again be one of the elite Division II programs heading into the new season.
The Charegrs are ranked tied for 25th in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll, released Monday afternoon. Hillsdale shares the final spot in the poll with Shaw, a school out of North Carolina.
Late Sunday night, August 21, Hillsdale College landed at 18th in the preseason poll released by D2football.com, the leading website covering Division II football. A link to that poll also appears at the top of this story.
The Chargers are also ranked 19th in the preseason poll produced by The Sporting News magazine, one of three GLIAC teams to appear in the top 25 in the magazine's preseason poll.
The Chargers finished the 2010 season with a 9-3 overall record, and were 16th in the final polls from both the AFCA and D2football.com. The team has qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs in each of the past two seasons, and since 2007, has an overall record of 34-13, second-best in the GLIAC during that span.
