Debate Team Excels at Western Kentucky University Tournament
The Hillsdale College Forensics Program traveled to Western Kentucky University in late September for a tournament. Featuring 29 different schools, the WKU tournament is among the largest and most competitive tournaments in the country, particularly for Lincoln-Douglas Debate. WKU is also one of the largest Parliamentary tournaments hosted on this side of the Mississippi River. Hillsdale College's results are below:

OVERALL--1st place in combined Debate Sweepstakes: Hillsdale College

In Parliamentary Debate—1st place Team (tournament champions): Ian Blodger and Stephen Davis,
1st place overall in Parliamentary Sweepstakes.

Also, four Hillsdale Debaters place in the Top 10 for Speaker Awards for Parliamentary Debate at the tournament:

2. Stephen Davis
4. Lauren Holt
9. Ian Blodger
10. Jonathan Slonim

In Lincoln-Douglas Debate—Semi-Finalist (Top 4): Bryan Brooks, Quarter-Finalist (Top 8): Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis also finished second place overall for Lincoln-Douglas Speaker Awards.

In short, Hillsdale's program was recognized for being superior as a whole, for being competitive as units in each style of debate, and for being great overall speakers. The team was led by Dr. Matthew Doggett, in his second year with the program.

The Debate Team next travels to Lafayette College to compete in what is perhaps the most competitive Lincoln-Douglas Debate tournament in the country (besides the National Tournament at the end of the season).
