Hillsdale College tennis team triumphs, 5-4 over Findlay
Chargers win second match of conference season
September 30, 2011 - In a season of firsts, the Hillsdale College women's tennis team won on the road within conference play for the first time in its new era Friday afternoon. news story image

The Chargers edged the University of Findlay 5-4 in Ohio, completing a two-match road swing. Hillsdale (3-8, 2-6 GLIAC) will play its final dual home match at 1:00 Sunday against Ohio Dominican.

Winning streaks for junior Brittany Parks (No. 1 singles) and freshman Morgan Delp (No. 2 singles) continued against the Oilers, but other players stepped up to help Hillsdale to victory.

Ellie Voci (pictured) came through with a big win at No. 5 singles, while the No. 2 doubles team of Elena Sakelaris and Morgan Linden pulled out an 8-6 win. Voci emerged with a 7-5 win in her first set, then finished off her match with a decisive 6-2 win in the second set.

After Sunday's match, the Charger players will get one more chance to play on their home court, when they host an alumi tournament on homecoming weekend, Saturday, Oct. 8 starting at 10 a.m.
