Hillsdale 3, Lake Superior State 0
October 7, 2011 - Playing 16 of the 17 players on the roster, the Hillsdale College volleyball team earned its fourth win in a row Friday night, 3-0 over Lake Superior State University.
The Chargers, ranked 10th in the nation, are now 13-2 overall and 10-1 in the GLIAC. The team is back home Sunday afternoon to host Northwood University.
Hillsdale won the sets by scores of 25-21, 25-11 and 26-24. The team experimented with different lineups and different offensive orientations throughout the match, entertaining the nearly 500 fans in attendance.
Senior Ashlee Crowder led Hillsdale with 12 kills and a .455 hitting percentage in an effective and powerful performance. She showed excellent athleticism and power in helping the Chargers to the match-opening win.
Sophomore Bekah Draves also had six kills, and Lauren Grover had four kills for Hillsdale.
Defensively, senior Morgan Podkul led the team with nine digs, and Crowder, Brogan Wells and Apryl Schmucker each had two service aces. Schmucker led the team with 17 assists, while sophomore Sydney Lenhart added 10 assists in her one set of play.
