October 10, 2011 - Hillsdale College senior outside hitter Ashlee Crowder has been named the GLIAC Volleyball South Division Player of the Week for the second time this season. The award was chosen and announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Crowder had an incredibly efficient week, as the Chargers swept Lake Superior State and Northwood at home over the weekend. She had a .477 hitting percentage over the two matches, and led Hillsdale with 12 kills in both contests. news story image

Crowder, a two-time AVCA All-American, has helped Hillsdale to five wins in a row and a new season-high national ranking of 8th, which was released early Monday evening. She ranks sixth in the GLIAC in hitting percentage and fifth in average kills per set.

This marks the fourth week in a row a Hillsdale College player has won the division's player of the week honor. Crowder has won it twice in that span, and is joined by Apryl Schmucker and Lauren Grover among her teammates who have also won this award recently.

Crowder and the Chargers will head to suburban Chicago this weekend to participate in the Mizuno GLIAC/GLVC Volleyball Crossover Tournament. Hillsdale will play two matches Friday and one Saturday, at Aurora's Great Lakes Center.
