Hillsdale College volleyball team rolls to 13th straight win

October 29, 2011 - Finishing off a Senior Day Weekend in style, the 7th-ranked Hillsdale College volleyball team had little trouble in sweeping Lake Erie College 3-0 Saturday evening at Jesse Philips Arena.

The Chargers, now winners of 12 in a row, are now 22-2 overall and 16-1 in the GLIAC. Hillsdale will next head to the Upper Peninsula, for matches at Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan next weekend. news story image

Playing a rotation that included every player on the roster, the Chargers cruised to wins of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-18.

Hillsdale held Lake Erie to a team hitting percentage of .065 in the match, while holding a 10-2 edge in service aces.

Senior Ashlee Crowder led the Charger offense with 12 kills on just 16 attempts, for a season-high .688 hitting percentage.

Senior Clara Leutheuser had eight kills and three blocks, while sophomore Caitlin Kopmeyer added six kills and nine digs.

Several younger players received extensive playing time. Sophomore Sydney Lenhart had five assists in limited playing time in the third set, while redshirt-freshman Lindsay Kostrzewa had a kill, also in limited time.
