Charger men get off to good start in win over U-M Dearborn

November 11, 2011 - The Hillsdale College men's basketball team got the 2011-12 season off to a positive start Friday night with a 65-31 win over the University of Michigan-Dearborn at Jesse Philips Arena.

The Chargers, now 1-0 on the season, head to St. Joseph's College next week before returning home for two more non-league games before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hillsdale played a tight defensive game, limiting the Wolves to 11 made field goals in the entire game, and 29 percent shooting news story imageoverall.

The Chargers held the Wolves to just 14 second-half points, and put together a consistent effort, particularly on defense. Eleven players played at least 10 minutes each for Hillsdale. The Chargers came up with 20 steals as a team, led by five from sophomore forward Tim Dezelski.

Senior Brent Eaton led the Chargers with 13 points in the game. Four different players - Nick Washburn, Tyler Gerber, Darius Ware and Dezelski - had eight points each. Senior John Bagge led the team with five rebounds off the bench, and Tony Nelson chipped in with six points off the bench.
