Men's basketball team improves to 3-0 with home win
Washburn's career-high 25 points lead Chargers
Hillsdale 75, Northwest Ohio 53

November 19, 2011 - Junior center Nick Washburn set a new career-high with 25 points in leading the Hillsdale College men's basketball team to a 75-53 non-league win over Northwest Ohio Saturday afternoon in Jesse Philips Arena.

The Chargers are now 3-0 and will play another home non-league game Wednesday night, against Illinois-Springfield.

Washburn was on the receiving end of some excellent post-entry news story image passes from his teammates, and converted most of his shots at the basket. He was 10-for-14 shooting from the floor, but not all of his shots were from the rim area. He showed improved touch and range on his jump shot, particularly in the first half, when he swished a pair of shots from near the 3-point line.

The Chargers got off to a good start, leading the Racers 19-5 at one point. But the visitors made a number of difficult shots, and closed the gap to as little as six points in the second half. But Hillsdale finished strong, ending the game on a 30-14 run over the final 12 minutes.

Hillsdale missed 21 of its 25 shots from 3-point land, but two long-distance treys from senior brent Eaton helped the team rediscover its offensive rhythm. Eaton finished with 14 points.

Sophomore Tim Dezelski hit all five of his shots from inside the 3-point line, and had 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Senior Brad Guinane had a double-double, with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Hillsdale.
