December 5, 2011 - Hillsdale College junior center Nick Washburn earned the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honor for men's basketball on Monday. The award was selected and announced by the conference office.
This is the first such honor for Washburn in his career. It's also the second week in a row a Charger has earned this honor, with

sophomore guard Marissa DeMott winning on the women's side last week.
Washburn averaged 15 points in 19 minutes played across two games last week, as Hillsdale opened up conference play with back-to-back wins on the road. He scored 17 points in 20 minutes in Saturday's 62-56 win over Lake Erie College, going 6-for-9 from the floor.
He also blocked a total of five shots in the two games and averaged 6.5 rebounds per contest. For the season, he is setting new career-highs in averages across the board, with 11.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Hillsdale has raced out to a 6-1 start to the season.
