Charger women's basketball team loses to ranked opponent for second straight game
#8 Edinboro 66, Hillsdale 56
December 29, 2011 - In its first action after Christmas, the Hillsdale College women's basketball team ran into its second straight nationally ranked opponent.
Playing in a two-game, two-day tournament at Northern Kentucky University, the Chargers fell to eighth-ranked Edinboro University 66-56 at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights. Hillsdale is now 5-5 overall and will play the host Norse at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The Chargers did a nice job defensively in the game, limiting Edinboro to 34 percent shooting from the field. But Hillsdale was undone in part due to being outrebounded 46-33, and committing 22 turnovers.
Offensively, senior guard Chelsea Harrison led the Chargers with 16 points while playing all 40 minutes. Four of Hillsdale's five starters scored in double figures, which included 12 from sophomore Angela Bisaro and junior Lea Jones, and 11 from senior Katie Bildner. Bisaro picked up eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots in the game for Hillsdale.
The Chargers led the game early on, and trailed by just three entering halftime, 29-26. But Edinboro extended its lead to as large as 12 in the second half thanks to timely three-point shooting.
As a team, Hillsdale went 12-for-13 from the free throw line in the game.
