Findlay 63, Hillsdale 48
January 19, 2012 - The third road game in a row was not the charm for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team.
Playing its third straight game on the road in a week, the Chargers lost to the University of Findlay 63-48 Thursday night at the Croy Gymnasium in Findlay. The Chargers are now 7-9 overall and 4-6 in the GLIAC.
Hillsdale steps outside of conference play for a home game this Saturday against Walsh University starting at 2 p.m.
Hillsdale came into the game off back-to-back road wins over Wayne State and Grand Valley State. But the Chargers were unable to overcome a cold shooting game against the Oilers, who improved to 12-5 in the game.
The game was played tightly between the two teams in the first half, with the Oilers holding a 27-21 lead over the Chargers. Hillsdale's offense was then shut down by the home team when it managed two points over an eight-minute span in the second half that saw the Oilers extend their lead to 20 points.
Hillsdale shot 1-for-20 from 3-point territory and 32 percent from the field overall. Findlay nearly doubled Hillsdale's steal total in the game, 13-7.
Senior Chelsea Harrison led Hillsdale in scoring with 13 points, to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Sophomore Marissa DeMott had seven points and a season-high seven rebounds for the Chargers, while freshman Abbey Lovat finished with 10 points.
