GLIAC All-Academic List
February 28, 2012 - The Hillsdale College women's swimming team enjoyed one of its finest seasons in 2011-12 in the pool. But the team continued a tradition of excellence in the classroom, as evidenced by individual and team academic awards it has earned.
The College Swimming Coaches Association of American named Hillsdale as one of its recipients of Scholar-All American Teams for the Fall 2011 semester. The Chargers had a team grade point average of 3.17 for the Fall semester, qualifying it as one of a handful of Division II institutions to earn this honor.
In addition, the GLIAC recently handed out its winter season academic awards, starting with women's swimming. Two swimmers - Sarah Leitner and Linda Okonkowski - were named to the GLIAC Academic Excellence Team, which recognizes athletes who carry an overall grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
A total of 11 swimmers earned GLIAC All-Academic honors as well, thanks to carrying overall GPAs of between 3.0 and 3.49. Those athletes are: Molly Birrer, Annemarie Brinkman, Alison Johnson, Hayley Johnson, Katie Lamb, Emily Peltier, Becca Remmes, Catherine Shilka, Megan Smith, Sami Ward and Michaela Wolfe.
