Women's basketball season comes to an end in tournament quarterfinal game at Tiffin
Dragons top Chargers 68-58
Tiffin 68, Hillsdale 58

February 29, 2012 - The 2011-12 Hillsdale College women's basketball season came to an end Wednesday night, as the Chargers lost a 68-58 decision to host Tiffin University in the quarterfinals of the 2012 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

Hillsdale's season ends with a 14-13 overall record.

The Chargers opened the game sharp, taking a 7-2 lead in the early moments, after senior Katie Bildner fired in a 3-point basket. Hillsdale held the lead and controlled the game through the first eight minutes of the game, but a late run by Tiffin swung momentum back in its favor.

TYhe Dragons ended the first half on a 10-2 run to turn a 29-25 deficit into a 35-31 lead at intermission.

Hillsdale retied the game at 40-40 after a jumper by junior Lea Jones with 14:33 left in the second half. But the Dragons put another run on the Chargersm, this time 16-5, over the game's next seven minutes, to gain a comfortable lead. The Chargers would never get closer than seven points from there.

Tiffin outrebounded Hillsdale 41-33 in the game and held the Chargers to 3-for-14 shooting from the 3-point arc.

In a real statistical rarity, both teams had the exact same shooting numbers from the field: 23-for-55. But Tiffin doubled Hillsdale's scoring output from the free throw line (18-9) and took 12 more attempts from the charity stripe than the Chargers.

Senior guard Chelsea Harrison finished her incredible career with 10 points and five rebounds in 39 minutes. She is one of just five players in school history to score at least 1,500 career points.

Bildner wrapped up her career with seven points, four rebounds and two blocked shots in 19 minutes. Senior forward Elizabeth Brannick, who ended her career playing her best basketball, had six points and six rebounds, four coming on the offensive end of the floor.

Mandy Jaeb led Tiffin with 19 points in the game.
