The Hillsdale College Debate team was incredibly successful at this year's State Championship Tournament. Hillsdale only sent two students to this year's competitions: Lauren Holt and Harris Wells. Lauren and Harris teamed together and finished first in Parliamentary Debate. Harris was also rated overall as the second-best speaker in the event. Lauren finished first in Lincoln Douglas Debate, and she also was the top-rated speaker in the event. Harris was the top novice in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Most surprisingly, Hillsdale won the first place Michigan State Debate Sweepstake award with only two debaters! The Debate Team will try to continue their success at Pi Kappa Delta’s National Debate Tournament in Kansas City, Kansas.
