Toledo Collegiate Challenge Results
April 1, 2012 - The pole vaulting duo of Chelsea Wackernagel and Kayla Caldwell continues to put together impressive performances for the Hillsdale College women's track team.
Caldwell took first place in the event at Saturday's Toledo Collegiate Challenge, clearing 3.50 meters. Wackernagel finished sixth with a mark of 3.35 meters in the pole vault. This result was reversed in the results issued by the University of Toledo, but Caldwell did, in fact, win the pole vault.
Senior Casey Shillito brought home her first victory of the outdoor season as well, winning the discus throw with a toss of 43.62 meters. She earned 10 points by beating out two other throwers, who all finished within .19 meters of one another.
Senior Cat Nass scored more points for the field event athletes with her fourth-place finish in the hammer throw. Her toss covered 47.95 meters, earning five points for the Chargers. Teammates Shannon Neby and Grace Leutheuser added more points for Hillsdale by placing seventh and eighth in the same event, respectively.
Indoor season All-American Kathy Dirksen took sixth in the shot put at 11.92 meters.
As a team, Hillsdale finished with 52 points and sixth overall at the meet. Thirty-seven of the team's points came in field events.
