Guertin sets career RBI record in Sunday split vs. Ohio Dominican
Game 1: Ohio Dominican 9, Hillsdale 2
Game 2: Hillsdale 3, Ohio Dominican 2
April 15, 2012 – The theme of this 2012 GLIAC softball season has been doubleheader splits. The softball teams from Hillsdale College and Ohio Dominican University upheld that trend Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers won the opener 9-2, and the Chargers took the nightcap 3-2. Hillsdale is now 22-17 overall and 14-10 in the

GLIAC, and will continue its current homestand Wednesday when it hosts North Division-leading Grand Valley State at 3:30 p.m.
Two of Hillsdale’s most reliable seniors played a big part in deciding the team’s fate in game two. Senior Jessica Guertin (pictured) blasted her eighth home run of the season and 42nd of her career, a three-run shot that turned out to be all the offense the Chargers needed. Allison Hetrick and Kate Hoop opened the game with singles, setting the table for Guertin’s shot.
With that hit, Guertin broke the school's all-time record for career runs batted in. She now has 141 on her career, breaking the old record of 140 set by Sarah Princinsky back in 1997.
Senior pitcher Laura Homan became the first Charger in 10 years to reach the 14-win plateau, going all seven innings with six strikeouts and two runs allowed. She is the first pitcher in the program to reach 14 wins since Joelle Frantz won 15 games for Hillsdale back in 2002.
Homan forced a fly out with runners on second and third to end game two successfully for Hillsdale. Freshman Emily Pillivant saw her most extensive action in conference play this season, going 1-for-3 while playing in right field. Senior Jennifer Berlet was 2-for-3 in the win for the Chargers.
Guertin had an RBI double in game one for Hillsdale, and leads the team with 26 RBI this season. Berlet also had an RBI and seven different players each had a hit for Hillsdale.
