Kayla Caldwell nabs first career GLIAC track and field athlete of the week honor
Junior broke school record in pole vault
April 18, 2012 - Junior Kayla Caldwell vaulted her way to the top of the national rankings Saturday. Wednesday, she earned her first in-season conference award.

Caldwell was named the GLIAC female track and field athlete of the week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office. She joins Amanda Putt, Victoria McCaffrey, Adrianna Yancho and Chelsea Wackernagel as Chargers who have been similarly recognized this school year.

Caldwell broke the school record in the outdoor pole vault at last week’s Hillsdale Invitational, clearing 13 feet, 3 ˝ inches. That mark placed her at No. 1 in all of Division II in the pole vault.

Caldwell finished second in the nation in the indoor track pole vault, and also possesses that school record. She also finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.15 seconds Saturday.
