Trippett, Magrum inducted into Hillsdale College Athletic Hall of Fame
May 8, 2012 - The Hillsdale College Athletic Hall of Fame inducted two distinguished members in a Saturday night ceremony.

Former football team captain David Trippett and national track champion Glenn Magrum made up the Class of 2012, and were honored in the ceremony held at the Dow Hotel and Conference Center on campus. Below is a summary of the accomplishments of both men, both during and after their playing careers at the college.

DAVID TRIPPETT ‘58
A two-time All-American offensive guard for Hillsdale College’s football team in the 1950s, David helped lead the team to three undefeated seasons from 1955-57. He earned All-MIAA honors news story imagein 1955, was the 1956 team MVP, and was co-captain of the 1957 Dales. David returned to Hillsdale College as an assistant professor of Sociology/Psychology and also served as assistant coach for the football, track, and wrestling programs from 1967-72. He then moved on to a career as a high school football coach and athletic director, and later worked with the Michigan Department of Corrections.

GLENN MAGRUM ‘84
A seven-time All-American and two-time national champion, news story imageGlenn was the NAIA national champion in the steeplechase in 1984 and in the three-mile run in 1983. He also earned All-American honors in the indoor 5000-meter run and as part of the 4x800 relay team. Glenn set school records in the 3000-meter run and the 4x1500 meter relay, and was the GLIAC and NAIA District 23 champion in the 5000-meter run. He received the American Institute of Chemists Award in 1984 for his accomplishments in the classroom, and went on to earn seven patents that deal with adhesives and reinforced fiberglass pipe.
