College Breaks Ground on Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center May 11
New Facility Includes Indoor Track, Tennis Courts
Hillsdale, Michigan: Hillsdale College will have a groundbreaking ceremony for the Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center on Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. The groundbreaking will take place at the College’s Roche Sports Complex, 201 Oak Street in Hillsdale, Michigan. Scheduled to speak are Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn, Athletic Director Don Brubacher, and Frank Biermann, husband of the late Margot Biermann.

The 76,000 square-foot Margot V. Biermann Athletic Center will house a six-lane, 200 meter indoor track and four tennis courts that can convert to volleyball courts. It will also accommodate large College events such as Commencement. The project will be completed for use in the 2013 Spring semester.

Frank and Margot Biermann became interested in the College in 1990 through Frank’s association with the Michigan Colleges Foundation, where he was a trustee. At the encouragement of her husband, Margot applied to Hillsdale College and graduated summa cum laude in 1993 with a degree in elementary education. She went on to teach at a Montessori school in the Detroit area. Margot Biermann passed away in October 2010.
