Senior Kate Bachelder Receives Bartley Fellowship at Wall Street Journal
Senior Kate Bachelder, who graduates in May from Hillsdale College with a major in political economy and a minor in Latin, has been named a 2013 Robert L. Bartley Fellow. The fellowships are named in honor of the late editor of the Wall Street Journal, Bob Bartley, for young men and women whose views are broadly consistent with Bartley’s beliefs in economic and political liberty and who aspire to careers in journalism.

Kate is the opinions editor of the Hillsdale Collegian and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She recently finished her senior thesis about the political forces affecting the financial crisis of 2008. Kate spent last summer doing research and editorial work for syndicated columnist Jonah Goldberg of the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C., and spent a semester interning full-time on Capitol Hill for the Republican Study Committee in 2011. She has also interned for Fleishman-Hillard International Communications and contributes to the politics blog at The Detroit News. Kate will work this summer in New York reporting to editorial board member Joe Rago.
