Rudland makes appearance in Sports Illustrated
Sept. 29, 2006 - The Hillsdale College volleyball team's success has now reached national levels. Senior middle hitter Taryn Rudland is featured in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated, as one of the magazine's Faces in the Crowd. It's a weekly feature in SI that highlights athletic achievers from all walks of life, of all ages, and all across the country. Rudland is a captain of the 16-0 Chargers, who are ranked 10th in the country, according to the latest AVCA Division II poll. She also leads the GLIAC in hitting percentage, and is second in the conference in blocks. Rudland also ranks second in the nation in hitting percentage this season. This marks just the second time a Hillsdale athlete has ever been featured in "Faces in the Crowd." The first was by former track All-American Ryan Pschigoda, who is a 1991 graduate of Hillsdale and inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
