Four Chargers earn All-American honors at 2007 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships
Add four more names to the ever-increasing list of All-American track performers for the Hillsdale College men's and women's track program. During this holiday weekend, seniors Alissa Hall and Peter Sercer, junior Kristin Donovan and sophomore Jason Stomps earned All-American honors by finishing within the top eight of their respective events.
Hall capped off an outstnding track and cross country career at Hillsdale with a seventh-place overall finish in the women's 1500 meter run. Her time of 4:32.94 gave her a richly deserved All-American nod. Hall has consistently been a top performer on the women's cross country and track teams throughout her four years at Hillsdale.
Fellow senior Sercer also finished in seventh place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:05.87, right in the middle of a packed finish to the thrilling, but treacherous race. A total of five runners finished within one second of Sercer's time in the finals.
Donovan emerged as a consistent point-scorer for Hillsdale in the throwing events during the indoor season, but emerged as one of the GLIAC's best during this outdoor season. Her mark in the javelin throw of 41.77 meters was also good for seventh place nationally.
Stomps was also a fast-improving performer in the hammer throw, and saved his best for last. He finished fourth overall with a lifetime-best throw of 193 feet, 0 inches. He entered the meet as the No. 13 seed in the event, becoming one of the most improved performers of any athlete at the meet.
These four athletes join Jared Krout (indoor track) and Taryn Rudland (volleyball) in giving Hillsdale College six All-Americans during the 2006-07 athletic year. Congratulations to everyone on their outstanding achievements.
