Charger volleyball team picked to finish first in GLIAC preseason poll
Aug. 17. 2007 - The Hillsdale College volleyball team was picked by GLIAC coaches to finish this season where it did last - in first place in the GLIAC South Division.

The 2007 GLIAC Volleyball Coaches poll was released Friday afternoon, and Hillsdale received 26 poll points, finishing first in the GLIAC South Division. The Chargers picked up three first-place votes, followed by second-place Ashland, who got two first-place votes. Findlay was picked third in the preseason poll.

Grand Valley State University was picked to finish first in the GLIAC North Division, followed by Michigan Tech, then third-place Ferris State.

This marks the second consecutive season Hillsdale has been picked to finish first in th GLIAC South Division. In 2006, the Chargers proved the league coaches correct by going 29-2 and finishing 17-0 in the GLIAC, the first time as team had gone through the entire conference schedule undefeated since 2003.

Hillsdale won its first 28 straight matches during the historic 2006 campaign. The Chargers open play this season on Friday, Aug. 24 at the Florida Southern Tournament in Lakeland, Fla.
