October 24, 2007 - With a first-year head coach and 10 new players, the Hillsdale College men's basketball team enters a new era in 2007-08. The first "official" recognition of the new year came Wednesday afternoon with the release of the GLIAC preseason poll.
The Chargers were picked to finish fifth in the South Division, earning 73 poll points. Findlay (South) and Grand Valley (North) were near-unanimous selections to win their respective divisions in the poll.
The preseason poll release took on new life this season, which included a conference call among all the league coaches Wednesday morning.
In addition, a preseason All-GLIAC team was chosen, as well as a preseason conference player of the year. Charger senior Tim

Homan was picked on the preseason All-GLIAC South Division Team. Homan is the program's leading scorer among all returning players, and is poised to crack the 1,000-point club sometime this season.
Four starters return to this year's Charger team, including Homan and juniors Tony Gugino, Travis Worst and Evan Steward. Newcomers to the team include transfer players Keith MacKenzie (Oakland University) and Tyler Brand (University of Indianapolis).
