Charger volleyball team takes out Findlay, 3-1
November 2, 2007 - The first half of this weekend's trek through Ohio turned out well for the Hillsdale College volleyball team.

The Chargers used a steady effort to defeat the University of Findlay Oilers, 3-1 Friday night at Findlay's Croy Gymnasium. Hillsdale is now 23-6 overall and 14-2 in the GLIAC, and will face Ashland University in a Saturday afternoon match that will decide the 2007 GLIAC South Division champion.

Hillsdale won the first two games by scores of 30-23 and 30-25. The Oilers won game three 30-26, but the Chargers easily won the fourth game, 30-19.

Hillsdale held Findlay to a .050 hitting percentage in that fourth game. The Oilers committed 14 service errors, and hit .150 for the match. The win was the fifth straight for Hillsdale over Findlay, dating back to October 2005.

Senior Melissa Bartlett turned in another dominating performance for Hillsdale, leading all players with 21 kills against just three errors. Sophomores Kittrick Smith and Emily Bennett each registered eight kills to contribute to the win.

Junior setter Stephanie Booms had 41 assists and four block assists. Senior Megan Howard had 30 digs, gaining another membership to the national 30-dig club. The Chargers had 11 total blocks in the match, with Booms and Bennett each leading the team with four assists apiece.

Hillsdale's match at Ashland will start at 1 p.m.
