Men's basketball team loses exhibition game at CMU by two
November 4, 2007 - For the first time, new Hillsdale College men's basketball coach John Tharp got a look at his team on the court in a "live" game against an opponent. And all things considered, it didn't look bad at all.

The Chargers played their first of two exhibition games to kick off the 2007-08 season Sunday afternoon and lost 83-81 to Central Michigan University at Rose Arena in Mt. Pleasant. Hillsdale will host Kalamazoo College in a home exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 12.

The Chargers shot 50 percent for the game, and had two players crack 20 points. Junior Tony Gugino led all players with 24 points in the game. He shot 10-for-16 from the field and had a team-high seven rebounds. Senior Tim Homan added 22 points and hit two 3-point field goals.

Three other players scored in double figured, led by 13 from junior Evan Steward. Juniors Travis Worst and Keith MacKenzie each scored 10 for Hillsdale. The Chargers outscored the Chippewas 46-45 in the second half.

Nate Minnoy and Giordan Watson each had 22 points for Central Michigan. Click on the link below for the box score from the game.
