Charger men's basketball team makes home debut with exhibition win over Kalamazoo College
November 12, 2007 - Making its first home appearance of the new season, the Hillsdale College men's basketball team made a great impression on the home fans in a 79-52 victory over Kalamazoo College Monday night at the Jesse Philips Arena. The exhibition game featured a terrific home crowd and the Chargers making a solid defensive stand in the second half.
Kalamazoo College didn't score a field goal in the final 11-plus minutes of the game, as Hillsdale gradually broke open what was a five-point game early in the second half.
Senior forward Tim Homan sparked a 24-2 second half run with three straight 3-point field goals to build Hillsdale's lead from 55-48 to 79-50. Homan finished with 24 points and shot 9-for-16 from the field.
Junior Travis Worst played an efficient game for Hillsdale, getting 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Tony Gugino, Evan Steward and Keith MacKenzie each had nine points for the Chargers.
Jon Matych led Kalamazoo College with 15 points.
