Charger women rout Alderson-Broaddus, 78-49, improve to 4-0 on season
November 25, 2007 - In its first three games of the season, no one has come within 11 points of beating the Hillsdale College women's basketball team. That trend continued Sunday afternoon.

Playing at a steady, high pace for all 40 minutes, the Chargers defeated Alderson-Broaddus 78-49 to improve to 4-0 on the season. Hillsdale went 2-0 at this weekend's AU Thanksgiving Classic in Ashland, Ohio. The team will be on the road for another early-season tournament this coming weekend, playing at West Virginia Tech University Friday and Saturday.

Hillsdale jumped out to a 39-23 halftime lead and didn't let up throughout the second half, as the team got four players in double-figure scoring, and shot nearly 51 percent fromthe field for the game.

Leading the way was junior forward Katie Cezat, who is off to an explosive start to the season. Sunday, Cezat scored a career-high 27 points, making 12 out of her 15 shots from the field. She also grabbed nine rebounds in the game. Last week, Cezat scored a then-career best 26 points.

Junior Julie Slot continued her consistent play this month with 14 points, three steals and three assists. Playing her most significant offensive role of her career, Slot has started the season by scoring 10 or more points in each of Hillsdale's first four games.

Sophomore guard Janay Miller added 11 points and six rebounds, along with a career-high five steals. Freshman Kara McCormick, one day after scoring a career-high 17, added 10 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

The Chargers held Alderson-Broaddus to 36 percent shooting from the field. Hillsdale was plus-eight in the turnover department, and held a 42-22 edge in rebounding.

Hillsdale is now 18-1 in the month of November, dating back to the 2004-05 season.

The Chargers will take on Cumberland (Ky.) Friday at 6 p.m., and host West Virginia Tech Saturday at 8 p.m. Hillsdale will then play in front of the home fans for the first time, hosting rival Ashland University on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. inside the Jesse Philips Arena.
