Tony Gugino wins first career GLIAC South Player of the Week honor
November 26, 2007 - Junior center Tony Gugino was honored Monday evening with his first-ever GLIAC South Division Player of the Week award. The announcement came from the GLIAC office.

Gugino had his best two-game stretch of his career last week, scoring a total of 59 points to go along with 19 rebounds as Hillsdale went 1-1. Gugino scored a career-high 33 points in a two-point home loss to the University of Indianapolis Monday night.

Gugino came back with 26 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high tying five blocked shots Wednesday, as he helped key a Charger victory over Albion in overtime. In that overtime session, Gugino scored seven straight points to help give Hillsdale the lead for good.

Gugino is the first Hillsdale men's basketball player to win a conference player of the week award since Cory Coe did it in February 2006. Gugino is in his third year as the Chargers' starting center, and has scored at least 10 points in all four of the team's games this season.

Gugino is a 2004 graduate of Holland Christian High School.
