January 7, 2008 - It was a clean sweep of weekly awards for Hillsdale College basketball players Monday afternoon.

Hillsdale College junior men's basketball player Tony Gugino earned his second career GLIAC South Division Player of the Week honor from the conference office. Gugino and Charger women's basketball player Julie Slot each earned conference accolades Monday afternoon. Gugino earned player of the week honors back on Nov. 26.

Gugino is the GLIAC's leader in scoring and played a pivotal role in the Chargers' thrilling 112-110 overtime win at Ashland Thursday. Gugino scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help Hillsdale halt a five-game losing streak to the Eagles. Gugino is averaging 20 points per game for the 8-5 Chargers this season.

Gugino is second in the GLIAC in blocked shots with 33 this season, and his 124 blocks for his career rank him fifth on Hillsdale's all-time list.
