January 18, 2008 - Hillsdale College senior quarterback Mark Nicolet was named Second-Team All-American late Thursday night by D2football.com, a leading website covering Division II college football.
Teammate Matt Vanover was named honorable mention All-American by the website as well.
Both Nicolet and Vanover played in last week's Valero Cactus Bowl in Kingsville, Texas, the Division II football all-star game. Nicolet was named MVP of the game while throwing three touchdown passes.
The award is just the latest in a bevy of honors for Nicolet this year, who has also been named Second-Team All-American by the AFCA, and was the 2007 GLIAC Player of the Year.
Vanover was named First-Team All-Conference ans broke the GLIAC record for punting average in a season. Both players have been scouted by the NFL during and after the Chargers' season.
