Cezat picks up third straight GLIAC South Division Player of the Week Award
February 4, 2008 - After a record-setting weekend, Hillsdale College junior Katie Cezat was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week for a third time in a row. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Cezat had an unprecedented pair of games last Thursday and Saturday, as she led the red-hot Chargers to two more wins. In Thursday's victory over Grand Valley, Cezat compiled a career-high 34 points to lead Hillsdale to its first win over the Chargers in five years. But that career-high total had a shelf life of less than 48 hours.

In Saturday's Hillsdale win over Wayne State, Cezat poured in 42 points, setting a new school record for points in a game. She also set two free throw records by going 18-for-23 from the line in the 67-64 victory.

For the weekend, Cezat played in all 80 minutes in the two games, and averaged 38 points and 14 rebounds. She is now second in the nation in scoring average, and is fourth in rebounding average. She leads the GLIAC in both of those categories.

Cezat also has 29 blocked shots on the season, tying Hillsdale's single-season school record. One more blocked shot this season will give her yet another record.

The Chargers are off to their best 20-game start in school history at 17-3. Only the 2002-03 squad went 17-3 in its first 20 games before. Hillsdale heads east this week to take on Gannon and Mercyhurst Thursday and Sunday, respectively.

Cezat has been named South Division Player of the Week four times this season overall.
