Gugino named GLIAC South Player of the Week for the third time
February 4, 2008 - Good things seem to come in threes, and that certainly applies to Hillsdale College men's basketball junior Tony Gugino.
For the third time this season, Gugino was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. The award was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Gugino is playing some of his best basketball in recent games, and this weekend was typical of the level he's played at. In three games last week, Gugino averaged 30.7 points and 10 rebounds per game to help lead Hillsdale to wins over Tiffin and Wayne State. Thursday, Gugino scored 23 points vs. No. 2 Grand Valley.
In Saturday's 74-54 win over Wayne State, Gugino scored a career-high 41 points on 17-for-23 shooting from the field in a fantastic performance. His 41 points are the most scored by any men's player in the GLIAC this season.
Gugino and the 12-9 Chargers will take on Gannon and Mercyhurst in away games this week.
