Tim Homan named First-Team All-GLIAC South Division; Tony Gugino nets Second-Team honors
March 6, 2008 - After getting shut out of all postseason awards last season, two members of this season's Hillsdale College men's basketball team had honors bestowed upon them Thursday night.

Senior forward Tim Homan was named First-Team All-GLIAC South Division at an awards banquet Thursday night on the campus of Grand Valley State University. Junior center Tony Gugino earned Second-Team All-GLIAC South Division honors. It was the first All-Conference recognition for either player.

Homan concluded his fantastic four-year career as the 15th-leading scorer in Charger men's basketball history. He averaged a career-best 17 points per game in 2007-08, and led the GLIAC in both 3-point field goal percentage and 3-point field goals made.

The highlight of Homan's season came back on Dec. 8, when he set a school record with 10 3-point field goals made in a 97-66 home win over Saginaw Valley State University. His 40 points in that game were a career-high. But it wasn't the most points scored by a Charger player this season.

That honor comes to Gugino, who scored a career-high 41 points in a Feb. 2 win over Wayne State University. His 41 points in that game are the most scored by any men's basketball player in well over a decade.

Gugino also enjoyed his most productive season for Hillsdale in 2007-08, finishing the regular season as the GLIAC's leading scorer, at 19.7 poins per game. He also ranked among the conference's top 10 rebounders and shot blockers. He is third on Hillsdale College's all-time blocked shot list.
