Katie Cezat named Daktronics Great Lakes Region Player of the Year
March 12, 2008 - First the GLIAC, now the region.

Hillsdale College junior women's basketball player Katie Cezat keeps raking in the awards, even as she and her Charger teammates prepare for their first NCAA regional game in five years.

Late Tuesday night, Cezat was named the Daktronics Great Lakes Region Player of the Year. The honor comes six days after Cezat was named the 2007-08 GLIAC Player of the Year.

The award was voted on by sports information directors around the Great Lakes Region, which consists mainly of the GLIAC and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

While being named the region's player of the year, Cezat netted First-Team All-Region honors. Fellow GLIAC standout Rachel Folcik of Ferris State joined Cezat in being named to the first-team.

Cezat also is in the running for another honor. She was among the top three vote-getters in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Region voting that took place over the last month of the season. Cezat is now eligible to be named All-American by the WBCA. That All-American list is due to be released March 19.
