March 12, 2008 - After completing his best season of an already stellar college career, Hillsdale College junior Tony Gugino received the most prestigious honor of that career.

Gugino was named to the Daktronics Great Lakes Region Second-Team in a release announced Wednesday afternoon.

Last week, Gugino was named Second-Team All-GLIAC South Division after a regular season in which he led the GLIAC in scoring average (19.7), and was among the conference leaders in rebounds and blocked shots.

Gugino scored a conference season-high 41 points vs. Wayne State on Feb. 2 to highlight his season. He scored more points this season than he did his first two years combined. Gugino also scored his 1,000th career point this season, and ranks third on the school's all-time shot blocking list. Gugino was also named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week twice in 2007-08.
