Biography:
I was born and raised in Salem, Indiana. I enjoy sports, including jogging, volleyball, basketball and bowling, both by watching and participating in them. I like gardening and decorating, and I really appreciate a good glass of wine. One must appreciate the products of plants! During my travels, I try to find botanical escapes, and I have developed a hobby of floral and botanical photography. My picture files are increasing by the month!
Research Interests:
Structural botany; willows; microscopy
Favorite class to teach:
Plant Anatomy (BIO 305) and Evolution and Biological Diversity (BIO 200)
What is your favorite student success story?:
I have several...but I really enjoy watching my students pursue their interests and passions and, in turn, find success in their endeavors.
What do you like best about Hillsdale College?:
I have wonderful colleagues in biology, and I am fortunate to have developed strong friendships with others across campus.
What do you like best about the students at Hillsdale?:
I have worked with some dedicated students, both in the classroom and laboratory, and that has been rewarding.
