Sport:
Track
Position:
Long sprinter—mainly the 400m and 200m
Athletic Honors:
2nd place in the 400m and 200m dashes at Indoor GLIAC 2008; 2007 Indiana High School Athletic Association Track Mental Attitude Award Winner; 3rd in 400m dash and 5th in 200m dash at State in 2007; national qualifier indoors in 200 and 400 as a freshman.
Why did you choose to attend Hillsdale College?:
Hillsdale’s high academic standards and competitive athletics sparked my interest in attending this college. I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and track team, and it wasn’t too far away from my home in Indianapolis.
What is your extra-curricular involvement outside of athletics?:
Hillsdale Christian Fellowship, Student Athletic Advisory Council, playing piano in SAGA on Sundays.
What do you like best about being an athlete at Hillsdale?:
The coaches understand that academics are a priority and are willing to work around class schedules. Also, I love the team atmosphere and support that athletes give to one another. Teammates see each other at their strongest and weakest points during practice and meets; athletes’ characters are exposed as they truly are. Through these shared experiences, we encourage each other and grow closer together.
What is the key to succeeding in the classroom as well as on a team?:
Time management is definitely a huge factor to succeed in both school and athletics. It can be hard to strike a balance between track and homework, but it’s something we need to continue working on.
What has been the highlight of your athletic career here?:
The best part of Hillsdale track for me thus far was making it to Indoor Nationals in two events.
